National Year of Mathematics- 2012

Celebration of National Year of Mathematics- 2012

India is celebrating the year 2012 as the National Year of Mathematics in honour of the great mathematician Ramanujan. On this occasion the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics, NCERT, New Delhi, is organizing a National Meet on School Mathematics Education. The academic programme of the National Meet will comprise plenary sessions, brainstorming sessions, panel discussions, paper/article presentations, poster sessions.

Original research papers/articles are invited for oral/poster presentations in the National Meet. The intended participants may send the abstract (not exceeding 400 words) by e-mail to [email protected] . The acceptance of papers/articles of all applicants will be notified through e-mail. The themes of the National Meet are as follows:

Core Mathematics

  • Nature of Mathematics
  • Reasoning and Proofs in Mathematics
  • History of Mathematics
  • Contributions of Indian Mathematicians

Matematics across Discipline

  • Integration of Mathematics with Art and Culture
  • Interface between Language and Mathematics
  • Mathematics, Science and Society
  • Mathematics in Daily Life
  • Mathematical Modelling
  • Consumerism and Mathematics

Pedagogy of Mathematics

  • Innovative Practices in School Mathematics
  • Mathematics in School Curriculum
  • Learning Theories in Mathematics
  • Nurturing Creativity
  • Recreational Mathematics
  • Role of Technology in Teaching-learning Mathematics
  • Issues in Mathematics Assessment
  • Gender Issues in Mathematics

Registration Fee

  • For University/State Department/School Teachers – Rs. 500
  • For Students/Research Scholars – Rs. 300

TA (only II AC)/DA will be paid as per NCERT norms to invited non-local participants only.

For students/Research scholars, TA (III AC) will be provided for invited non-local participants. Local conveyance will be provided only for invited local participants. Arrangement for accommodation will be made in our Guest House/P.G. Hostel, if required by the participants on payment basis. The current rates are as follows:

  • Guest House AC room per bed – Rs. 200 per day,
  • Guest House Non Ac per bed – Rs. 100 per day
  • PG Hostel per bed – Rs. 70 per day
  • Breakfast – Rs. 35 per day
  • Dinner – Rs. 35 per day
  • Working lunch will be provided by NCERT.
